The transition to a low-carbon economy is creating new opportunities across renewable energy, electric vehicles, hydrogen and emerging technologies. Metaverse Learning’s Clean Energy library has been developed to help bridge that gap. Co-created with Further Education colleges and industry specialists, the library combines immersive Virtual Reality and browser-based Virtual Environment experiences that place learners inside realistic workplace settings. Learners can explore systems, complete tasks, solve problems and build practical understanding in a safe and accessible environment. Covering areas including heat pumps, solar PV, solar thermal, electric vehicles, EV charging infrastructure and hydrogen, the programmes are ready to deploy today, with opportunities to co-create new content as industry needs continue to evolve.

 

Learning through real-world clean energy scenarios

Every immersive programme is designed around practical workplace activities that help learners understand both the technology and the processes behind it. Rather than simply reading about systems, learners interact with equipment, carry out inspections, diagnose faults and make decisions within realistic environments.

Across the library, learners can experience activities such as designing a domestic solar PV installation, carrying out heat pump inspections, identifying faults in solar thermal systems, exploring electric vehicle powertrains and understanding hydrogen production and transportation. Each scenario includes structured learning objectives, trainer guidance and replay functionality to support discussion and reflection after completion.

Available through both browser-based Virtual Environments and Virtual Reality headsets, the programmes provide flexible delivery options that can fit alongside existing teaching, practical workshops and funded skills initiatives.

Creating pathways into clean energy careers

Building technical skills is only part of the challenge. Learners also need visibility of the opportunities available to them and a clear understanding of where those opportunities can lead.

The optional Metaverse Hub extends learning beyond individual scenarios by creating a dedicated virtual clean-energy environment that supports attraction, engagement, and progression. Available through any web browser, the hub enables learners to explore careers, connect with employers, access industry content and receive guidance through AI-powered adviser tools.

Designed to support TEC programme objectives, the hub can be shared across multiple colleges and training providers, creating a regional destination for clean energy careers.

Learners can explore progression routes, understand the differences between apprenticeships, vocational pathways and higher education, and gain insight from employers and industry professionals, helping them make informed decisions about their future.
