Skills shortages in Advanced Manufacturing
Advanced Manufacturing utilises new technology to enhance or create products, and the industry currently faces a global shortage of skilled workers.
According to a Deloitte survey, 83% of manufacturers struggle to attract and retain employees with the necessary skills, leading to almost 45% having to decline business opportunities due to insufficient workforce. Despite the traditional perception of manufacturing as labour-intensive, rapid technological advancements have shifted the industry towards heavy reliance on advanced technologies, creating a significant skills gap.
Immersive learning to bridge the skills gap
To address this problem, at Metaverse Learning, we have taken the lead in bridging this gap by launching a new Advanced Manufacturing Consortium. Consortium partners will work together to co-create immersive learning programs using Virtual Reality, Virtual Environments and Augmented Reality to equip learners with the skills they need to work in this industry.
